The answer:
Well, if you have the right SPC board, then this is as simple as
rebooting with 'boot -r'. However, if you have the older model
(as we do), then there is *no* simple fix!
Seems there are two versions of the SPC board - the one we have
is model# 501-1511-01, which was purchased back in 1991 and worked
just dandy under 4.1.3. It turns out this model is *incompatible*
with Solaris 2.3 and above!
The newer model is #501-1931-01 and is available from Sun. If you
want to use an SPC board with Solaris 2.3 or higher, you need this
model. The previous version will not be recognized!
In addition, Sun will not swap the newer version for the old, even
under full hardware support! We tried to persuade them, but they
consider this an upgrade even though the boards physically appear
the same. If anyone else can persuade Sun to swap, please let me know!
