SUMMARY: exchanging tapes between Exabyte 8500 drives

Hi,

It appears that the problem is that, in spite of having written to devices
that are advertised as being non-compressed (Apunix's rsx0 and Sun's
rst8), the tapes were still written in compressed mode. Grrrrr.
