Sun Managers,

Thank you for your replies to my original question about
the difference between OS4.1.3 and OS4.1.3_U1.

Consensus Answers:

The motd and `uname` will reflect the _U1 if present.
        4.1.3_U1 is 4.1.3+many_patches.
4.1.3_U1 is 4.1.3 that will run on a microsparc machine (SS5 et al).

Non-Consensus Answers:

From: Adam Nevins, Terry Snyder, Dotty Pon
>Libraries are different enough that a program dynamically linked
>under 'U1' will cause warnings when run under 4.1.3.

        From: Larry Ridenour
>The libraries are the same.

I am going to go with the majority on this one and assume the libraries are
different. Another problem for me with 4.1.3_U1 came from Terry Snyder:

>U1 was written for Sparc5 and Sparc20 and won't run on Sparc2 or IPX

This is a problem because I was planning on running it on a Sparc2.
The faq list says that a sparc2 will run 4.1.1 and later. Is that
incorrect? I guess regardless the libraries being different
is enough reason for me not to purchase 4.1.3_U1. Now I just have
to find a resaler for 4.1.3.

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately it wasn't the answer I was hoping for.
But better to know now.

                                -Kim
