SUMMARY: system hangs? GRRRRR!

[Yes, I figured out b -s at the > prompt brought the system up in
single user mode.]

[Expletive! deleted]

I couldn't figure out why the goddamn system would mount the filesystems
from vfstab manually, but not on boot up.

Fact: The system has two Ethernet interfaces... one of which wasn't
plugged into anything, but was still configured. I was disabling it
after start-up manually.

When I didn't bother to do this, and attempted to mount the nfs filesystems,
I noticed that it just wasn't happening... I then ifconfig downed the
network card, and bam, the nfs system mounted.

I then renamed the /etc/hostname.le1 file and rebooted.

Guess what? Everything mounted properly.

Grrr... why?
