Hello Sun Managers,
With this mail I'd like to thank all of you who have responded to
my question about DNS in Solaris. The original question was:

I took more answers than I could dream of and all of them advise me to
look at the file /etc/nsswitch.conf. Here is a sample answer:
> Look in the file /etc/nsswitch.conf and verify that the "hosts"
> entry looks like this:
> hosts: dns files
>
> This tells the host to consult DNS records before /etc/hosts entries.
> The default for this file is to state only "files" (/etc/hosts, etc.)
> The "dns" string must appear first, reading from left to right.
Actually this was a simple problem but I have to say that the machine
of interest was a remote host and I had no manuals to read, so I was
trying to find a way out. I want to thank all the people who aswered.
The list of them follows (I hope I don't forget anybody. Excuse me if
I do).
