SUMMARY:VAC - what is it?

I got a couple of replys to my posting asking what the line in
/var/adm/messages:
vmunix: VAC ENABLED in COPYBACK mode
meant.

It's avirtual address cache, which is enabled on multiprocessor
machines, as opposed to a Physical Address Cache (PAC) which is used on
single CPU machines.
It's CPU h/w dependant, and the kernel picks the mode at startup - it
can't be set.

Thanks to frans@kiwi6.uia.ac.be (Francois Staes) and 1 other (sorry I
lost you mail) for this info
