 My original question:

  Dear Sun managers

I have two Sun workstations with Solaris 1.1. The workstations are named master and sleepy.
I usually use sleepy . I am subscribed to some mailing lists with address on
master and I use .forward to send mail to sleepy so I can read it.
I wish I knew :
a) how can I do so master tyr to send me my mail more than three days ?
b) how can I do so insert my master's address at the sender field of the
   mail sent by sleepy ?
   Thank you very much !

I got the following answers:

You can't, but you can change it so that it will try to deliver *all*
Mails longer than three Days. You should have a Line "OT3d" in your
/etc/sendmail.cf, change that to as many d's (Days) you like.

Various Ways, many Possibilities to have your Mail stop working if you
do a wrong Thing. Is sleepy a Mail Client of the Master, or just another
Host? Do you run the standard SunOS sendmail? Etc..

Would just redirecting the Replies to your Mails from sleepy to the Master
be enough? If so, try supplying a "Reply-To:" Header.

Regards,

Hi,

If you have set the machine sleepy up as a client. Then why not just
mount /var/mail from master to sleepy, and run your mail utilities from
sleepy.

Inbound:
Check out "man aliases". You need to set up an alias on master that
*defines* your address as mumble@sleepy.

Outbound:
You need to change sleepy's sendmail.cf to force the return machine
name to be master (Dj).

I am trying the suggested solutions.

My warmest thanks to all of you.
