SUMMARY: Remote printer handling with lpc

My original question:

:
: Dear sunmanagers. A small strangeness:
:
: I have 2 machines, A and B. Two printers:
: lw1 and lw2, are connected to A. They are
: defined in the printcap of B as remote
: printers, and it works fine.
:
: Today I wanted to disable queuing and printing
: for lw2. First i ran 'lpc' on A, giving it
: the commands 'stop lw2' and 'disable lw2'.
: OK, no problem. When I did the same on B, it
: also affected lw1, so lw1 had queuing disabled
: and printing disabled as well.
:
: What's wrong ??
:
: System: SS2, SUN-OS 4.1.3.

Thanks to:
  perryh@pluto.rain.com (Perry Hutchison) and
  Eckhard.Rueggeberg@ts.go.dlr.de (Eckhard Rueggeberg)

- who both provided me with the solution overnight: That
I have to define local spool-directories even for re-
  mote printers.

Not having this leads to the same status-files being
  used for all remote printers.

Furthermore, theres danger of occasional misdirection
of files (printing to lw1, but getting poutput on lw2).
