My original question was:
> I am running a Solaris 2.3 system with the 101318-31 jumbo kernel patch.
> I would like to update this to a later version. Following this newsgroup
> convinces me that there are some problems with these later versions.

> It appears that 101318-45 is acceptable except that it breaks syslogd.

> If so, my question then is:

> Can I add the patch 101318-45 and then simply use the rev. -31 syslogd?

> A recent SUMMARY suggests that someone has done something similar ( using
> the syslogd from rev. -42 ).

I was advised to get patch 101318-50 and patch 101869-01 which fixes the
problems caused by patch 101318-50. I just installed these two and things
are working out fine.
Thanks again for your help!
