                        ORIGINAL QUESTION

Does anyone know what character set ISO-8859-1 represents ?
It is a character set used by Sun but I am not sure which one it is.

It's the de-facto standard for 8-bit character sets. It's also called
Latin-1 or formerly ECMA-94. It's also directly supported by PostScript
Level 2 (ISOLatin1Encoding) and Windows (ANSI set). The Windows set
however has some extra characters beetween 128 and 160, which are not
int ISO 8859/1.

It's the native 8bit character set of Sun (OpenWindows) and X11.

Thanks to all that replied.
