SUMMARY: Nis server on Solaris 2 -- any experiences?

I wrote:

   I wan't to run a nis server on a Solaris 2.x machine. I know of a
   SunSoft product "Naming Services Transition Kit (for Solaris 2.2 &
   2.3)", product name NIS-PSITE, but one of my friends have tried it,
   and cannot recommend it. It crashes in intervals of 5 to 20 minutes
   with the following message:

> not found: __xdr_yprequest: referenced in /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypserv

   Ok, now I want to know if any of you know of a third party nis-server
   product, that runs fine?

Five of those run the program without any problems. One have problems,
and thinks of looking at the Linux software.

D.A.Stewart@ee.edinburgh.ac.uk says there is a patch for my problem
(see below), but he have not installed it. He has installed the

           This is a port of the C2 Jumbo patch (100201-04) to NSkit.

      dies on server

      rpc.yppasswdd uses an incorrect lock file

      NIS and C2 Security passwd.adjunct file can get overwritten by passwd
    
      bug 1063796:
      When running C2 with NIS, yppasswd password changes from client system
      would take 5 minutes of delay before taking effect.
    
      bug 1039587:
      rpc.yppasswdd does not accept ":" characters
      as a valid passwd character when changing an existent passwd entry.
    
      bug 1097292:
      rpc.pwdauthd's core image contains plaintext passwords and passwd.adjunct `
      file
    
      Bug 1006905
      rpc.yppasswdd sometimes corrupt passwd dbm files
    
   
   
Sun in Denmark sent me this info:
