This one works for me on a sparc 1+. You'll probably have to change
"MD21" to "SCSI".

disk_type = "Seagate ST31200N" \
        : ctlr = MD21 : fmt_time = 4 \
        : trks_zone = 9 : asect = 5 : atrks = 5 \
        : ncyl = 2692 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 2694 : nhead = 9 : nsect = 85 \
        : rpm = 5400 : bpt = 36000

Subject: Re: Format for ST31200N

Here's what we cooked up. They appear to work fine for us and for our
customers. You get to pick your own partitions. The ones here are
for SunOS 4.1.x and Solaris 2.3 respectively. You may wish to alter
them if your 31200 is not a boot drive.

By the way, the simplest way to use this (under 4.1.x) is to stick it
in a separate file and use format -x <filename>. Obviously, you can
modify the "ANDATACO"s, but the "disk" field in the partition entry wants to
match a "disk_type" field somewhere in the file.

Feel free to order these from us!

This should work:
#
disk_type = "Seagate ST31200N" \
        : ctlr = MD21 : fmt_time = 4 \
        : trks_zone = 9 : asect = 5 : atrks = 5 \
