Thanks a lot for your help.
Unfortunately my question was not very precise. I want to know how to
store stopped jobs and run it later on the same or another machine.
So some people suggest to use "kill -STOP pid" and to "kill -CONT pid" which
is no solution.

There exists a software package which realizes the wished feature:
condor (release 4.1.3b) which is available from ftp.cs.wisc.edu
(directory /condor). Dave, Eckhard, and Ian, thanks for the advice.

Up to now I have only got and still not installed.
