Several weeks ago I asked about after-market Type-4 keyboards for
Sun systems. I received several replies, and some me-too's. I'm
still researching this issue, but here is a preliminary summary.

Preliminary indications are that a Type-4 keyboard can be purchased
from Inmac. Part number J920273. $150. I am still waiting for them
to fax me info on said keyboard.

Supposedly this keyboard is made by Key Tronic. Supposedly Key Tronic
made the Type-4 keyboads for Sun. Supposedly, one reason Sun went to
the Type-5 is that they were contractually locked into a single source
for the Type-4.

Supposedly, this keyboard has the top row of keys shifted upwards 1/8
inch, requiring a different bezel -- thereby circumventing some legal
constraint preventing Key Tronic from reselling a "genuine" Type-4
keyboard on the open market.

Supposedly, this keyboard is fully compatible electronically with the
original Type-4 keyboard.

I would expect Key Tronic to make this keyboard available through
multiple sources.

I'll post a full summary when I finally get a reply from Key Tronic and
Inmac, and when I get my hands on one of these babys.
