SUMMARY: More on Change to new wire

I received some additional excellent suggestions for my original problem, so
this is some additional summary info (and thanks to those listed).

Original Problem: Switched from coax (thinnet) to 10baset with new wire,
transceivers, etc. and no network. Power light is on trans. but no link.

Actual solution: When they finally let me into the wiring closet so I could
see the new hub, it was immediately apparent something was missing since
the link light on each port should not be on unless there's something
alive connected to it. As I mentioned previously, the hub needed a repeater
module. I've definitely learned never to take someone's word that
"Of course its hooked up right!".

Other excellent suggestions:
- Wiring. Remember that "It's a common wiring mistake to connect the
wires to pairs 1 and 2." and "you need to "cross-over" the pairs on the way
to the transceiver".
- If your transceiver has a remote/local switch, it should be set to remote.
- Twisted pair isn't the best medium. If you can, have the wire checked to
see if there are too many splices or they are run past very large (and noisy
electronically) machines like big air conditioners.
- Wiring. If you can get your hands on it, the transceivers may come with a
small document that describes in detail the wiring for that trans.
- Check connections (again and again and again). An especially appropriate tip
when you have just one station that doesn't connect.
