Sorry this summary is so late. I've been away on vacation for the past week.
In my original posting I asked:

Hi everyone,

Recently, I've been reading lots of summaries which have suggested installing
the xnews jumbo patch. It seems almost everybody recommends using this patch,
so I decided to acquire it and install it on our systems. My problem is this.
The patch, 100444-43, as downloaded includes a README file which, among other
things, states the following:

Files included with this patch along with their CheckSum (ucb sum):
                50168 32 sun4/libSunEVQ.so.1.0
                30028 48 sun4/libSunWIN.so.1.0
                54609 2352 sun4/xnews
                37026 15 sun4/xnews.1

However, when I run checksum on the included files, I get the following results:

                50158 32 sun4/libSunEVQ.so.1.0
                21527 48 sun4/libSunWIN.so.1.0
                54609 2352 sun4/xnews
                37026 15 sun4/xnews.1

I've tried downloading from a couple of different sources, namely athene.uni-
paderborn.de and sunsite.unc.edu. I've also tried running sum on different
architectures and operating systems, 4.1.2, 4.1.3, sun4c, sun4m. I always get
the same results, and it never agrees with the README. Has anyone else run
checksums on this patch? Is the README wrong, or have the sources been
corrupted somehow?

I would appreciate any and all input on this issue.

Thanks,

The general consensus was that Sun screwed up the README file. mike@trdlnk.chi.il.us caught the error in my message. The correct checksum for
sun4/libSunEVQ.so.1.0 is 50168, not 50158. To reiterate, the correct checksums
are as follows:

50168 32 sun4/libSunEVQ.so.1.0
21527 48 sun4/libSunWIN.so.1.0
54609 2352 sun4/xnews
37026 15 sun4/xnews.1

Special thanks to runde@mms.com for checking the checksums on her Sun-supplied
patch tape.
