The original question was:

I am having trouble understanding how DNS works and what are the advantages
and disadvantages of using it. Besides the system administration guide
does anyone know of a book or document that gives a better explanation
and some good examples of how to set it up?

The majority of the responses suggested I obtain the book:

        Title: DNS and BIND
Authors: Paul Albitz and Cricket Liu
        Publisher: O'Reilly
        Edition: 1992
        ISBN: 1-56592-010-4

Some also suggested the book:

        Title: TCP/IP Network Administration
        Author: By Craig Hunt
        ISBN: ISBN: 0-937175-82-X
