Anyone out, who has seen the "host name configuration error" message with
SunOS 4.1.3 sendmail ???
When sending mail, a machine _always_ connects to itself !
----------------------
What happened to my machine:
I used the original /usr/lib/sendmail.subsidiary.cf as /etc/sendmail.cf
- B U T /var/spool/mail wasn't mounted from the mailhost :-). After
mounting it, Mail worked as expected.

I saw that message just last week. Our error was a bad "MX" record in DNS.

Typically indicates a machine that doesn't recognize its own name.
Check the $j setting in your sendmail.cf (line starting with Dj).
Don't know your exact setup, so don't know if this helps. Doing any
weird relay host or MX stuff?
I'm leaning towards moving all of the sendmail's I maintain over to IDA
sendmail, which is a bit easier to configure.
