Thanks for the help, I had many responses, all right on the mark.
As everyone in the world (except me) knew, for HDB UUCP you just use
MYNAME in the Permissions file to assert any hostname you like. Works
perfectly. Example:
LOGNAME=Uverdix \
MACHINE=verdix \
MYNAME=bit \
COMMANDS=rmail:rnews:lpr:uusend \
SENDFILES=yes \
REQUEST=yes \
READ=/usr/spool/uucppublic:/var/spool/uucppublic \
WRITE=/usr/spool/uucppublic:/var/spool/uucppublic
