My original question is:
How could I make a bootable tape?
However my idea of making a bootable tape is not to duplicate the Sun
Install tape. I want to make a bootable tape from my existing system which
kernel had been reconfigured. Then I could use this tape to install the
system onto other machines.
Summary:
* Use "tcopy" in /usr/ucb to copy tapes.
If you have only one tape driver, get "copytape" to
do it. Use "archie" to search where to find it.
* about make "bootable" tape,
all answers I got is to duplicate the install tape
from Sun. Besides use "tcopy", "copytape", you can also
use "dd" to copy all the savesets of the tape.
* use dd to copy the files (I believe it means
the Sun Install tapes) to a disk. Then dd back to a tape.
* Sun Support suggested swb@genrad.com using cp to copy each of the
data sets on the tape. Then the data sets could be copied back
onto tape. A single data set must be complete on a tape. BTW, swb
never tried it.
Thanks for the all the response:
