The general concensus is that irrespective of whether the registration process is automated, the procedure is the same.

You send mail to an address of the format:

        listname-request@node_address

for example, sun-managers would be addressed as:

        sun-managers-request@eecs.nwu.edu

The request text should appear on both the subject line and the first line of the body. The syntax of a request is generally of the format:

        request userid@node_address
eg.
        subscribe guyj@techpac.oz.au
        unsubscribe fred@techpac.oz.au
        help

This syntax is generally understood by both human and automated systems, sending the command "help" will usually get you some additional instructions.

Additional lists are available from:
LISTSERV@brl.mil
LISTSERV@VM1.NoDak.EDU
LISTSERV@NDSUVM1.bitnet
