Hi, managers
A few days ago I send a request to sun_managers regarding a problem with
terminal hangs on a mux.
I receive five responses on this, and all agree that this was a SunOS patching
problem.
The best solution found was to switch to SunOs 4.1.2 and upgrading
accordingly the muxes sotware.
Thanks alot to:

And here are a new request:
The setup:
SparcServer 330 (host name: elmer / NIS master / Domain Name: fing)
SparcStation IPC (host name: fing / mailhost)
SparcStation 1+ (host name: speedy / mail subsidiary)
12+ SparcStations, DEC Stations, PC's, etc ... over ethernet lan
This setup is part of our University network.
Initialy the host "fing" was able to send and receive mail over an uucp link
with the rest of the world.
The next step in the mail setup was configure sendmail for the network.
Sendmail was configured following the steps given in the System & Network
Administration Manual.
The problem:
All the host in the lan can send mail to "fing" (the mailhost) and between
each other, but, "fing" cannot send mail to any host.
If we run the test command:
# /usr/lib/sendmail -v < /dev/null juang@speedy
we receive the following messages:
juang@speedy... Connecting to speedy via ether...
juang@speedy... Deferred: Name Server Failure for speedy
All the possible connections in the lan using the NIS services were posible,
and worked OK.
The uucp link works fine using uucp, cu, uucico, etc... but "fing" cannot
longer send mail via uucp.
We appreciate any clues or comments on this problem.
I'll summarize.
Thanks you all.
