I asked if there were any gotchas hooking up an NEC Silentwriter 2/95
to an IPC via the serial port. NEC was not sure it worked.

You can use the same 8 pin Din to RS-232 cable that Sun provides with the IPC.
(Let me know if you need the part number). You can buy a null modem adaptor at any Radio Shack or computer parts store. No need for any specially built cables.
The part number is 530-1662-01.
