Thanks to all the people who replied. It is almost uncountable. I also
received a summary from John Vogtle, since this was apparently discussed
before. The overwhelming concensus is USE ONLY EXABYTE CLEANING TAPES.
Trouble with substitutes has been documented. (Exabyte will void your
warranty if you use a substitute, but that is not really a concern.)
I got one reply from someone who uses the SONY tapes without problem, others
claimed problems. Rather than tie up the net I'll just say: USE EXABYTE
cleaning tape. Even if it is a price ripoff, the actual dollars are not
that much when you consider what is at stake.
