The question was "what's involved in sticking an MC68881 in the Sun 3/50"
Make sure it is a 16MHz chip. Plug it in.
Make sure you are using anti-static gear.
There is a jumper on the board to allow you to run at 12MHz but you shouldn't
You can use an MC68882 which is quicker for some math operations.
Two or three people sent me a Sun-Spots heap on the subject.
It goes into great details of mask revisions and what the numbers mean etc etc.
