SUMMARY: upgrading Solaris 10 u3 to uX

Hello,
Thank you to all who replied. Everyone has said that I have to do an upgrade
from CD or do a Live upgrade.  Installing patches will just patch what you
have, but does not add new stuff.

In my research I found a document that discusses patching vs. upgrade. It is
geared towards someone running Oracle Database 11gR2 on Solaris, but it is
helpful.

I have two systems, one running Solaris 10 U2 and another running Solaris 10
U3, and I want to upgrade them to Solaris 10 U10 (or minimally U4).  Can this
be done by installing patches, or do I have to do a full install from CD?  I'm
just trying to get to a version of Solaris that will support EMC PowerPath
5.3.

Here are the /etc/release files and output from "uname -a" for both systems.

System 1:
# more /etc/release
