SUMMARY: Zone-problem on Solaris 10 SPARC

Hi again,

and sorry for the late summary - was a little bit busy in the last days, so
I didn't find the time to write it.
The problem is solved, and special thanks go to Tatsumi Hironori
[clownpopy@hotmail.com] who wrote the right solution very quick:

The problem is that SC3.1U4 changes /etc/system automatically, and adds
"exclude: lofs". Of course this will not work, since zones need the loopback
filesystem... I commented out this line, rebooted the machine - and, now I
can install the zone.

Thanks to the list (and especially to Tatsumi) for the quick and good
advise!

Harald

Betreff: Zone-problem on Solaris 10 SPARC

Hi gurus,

got a strange problem here which I haven't seen before. I'm trying to
install a zone on a Solaris 10 SPARC system (E420), and it gives me the
following errors:

root@dev-sparc-02 # zoneadm -z mmsc-zone install
Preparing to install zone <mmsc-zone>.
ERROR: mount: /lib: Invalid argument
ERROR: cannot mount mount point </zones/mmsc/root/lib> device </lib>
ERROR: cannot mount zone <mmsc-zone> inherited file system mount point
</zones/mmsc/root/lib> to </lib>
ERROR: cannot setup zone <mmsc-zone> inherited and configured file
systems
ERROR: cannot setup zone <mmsc-zone> file systems inherited and
configured from the global zone
ERROR: cannot create zone boot environment <mmsc-zone>
zoneadm: zone 'mmsc-zone': '/usr/lib/lu/lucreatezone' failed with exit
code 74.

Here's the output of zonecfg:

root@dev-sparc-02 # zonecfg -z mmsc-zone info
zonepath: /zones/mmsc
autoboot: false
pool:
inherit-pkg-dir:
        dir: /lib
inherit-pkg-dir:
        dir: /platform
inherit-pkg-dir:
        dir: /sbin
inherit-pkg-dir:
        dir: /usr
net:
        address: dev-sparc-mmsc
        physical: hme0
root@dev-sparc-02 #

The system is running as a SC3.1U4 cluster, but /zones/mmsc is a local
filesystem. I'd like to play around with clustered zones, and so the
zone should reside on a cluster fs, but for the first try, I thought it
would be better to setup a local zone to ensure everything's correct.
Any clues?

Thanks in advance,

Harald
