SUMMARY: How to remove all metadevices

Looks like I just needed to unmount the filesystems before doing the
metaclear -f. If it's the / /var file systems then change them back to
their c#t#d# designations in /etc/vfstab and reboot first then do the
metaclear.
And, it's not necessary to do a newfs on the partitions on the 2nd.
internal disk (the one being mirrored to).

Thanks to all the responders.

Below is my original question

How do I clear out and remove all of my metadevices????
I tried metaclear -f and metadetach -f and get various errors.
Also, for a two disk mirrored system do I have to do a newfs on the
partitions on the 2nd. internal (mirror) before I setup the mirrors
in order for the system to boot off the mirror?
Thank You.
