Hi fellow Sun people,

Thanks for all the sad but sound advice.  The answer is NO it seems!

Ah well, I will just have to do a new initial install.

No.

The upgrade has specific knowledge about which files to remove and modify
and how to modify them; upgrade accrues this information release after
release; so S9 has no idea about what came after it so it can't undo
S10 (such as remove S10 specific packages and files)
