Thank you Tim and Ghassan Qanzu'a for your responses.

Task : Changed a failed disk drive in a RAID 1+0. Here
the logical drive status was DRV FAILED and disk
status was BAD. StorEdge 3310.

Intially Sun said to go ahead, pop in the new drive and
rescan it. But later they send me a document which has
a different procedure for each combination of logical
drive and physcial drive conditioin and RAID in which
it is. There are atleast 10 different procedures
outlined.I think this document is not accessible to
everyone. For example in my case the logical drive
status was DRV FAILED adn disk status was BAD so I had
to
1)enable periodic drive check time
2)POP in the new drive.
3) scan the new drive
4)and rebuild the target logical drive to which failed
drive belongs.
 5) disable periodic check time.

4th step in my case (70Gb each disk) took around 3
hours of time.

If anyone wants this document in future contact me
