Hi,

Thanks fo Drew Skinner and Nicolas Dorfsman plus others for their
assistance.
I now have my mirror stripe config replacing the original RAID5 and
performance
indicators show a huge improvement. In essence I did the following:

metainit d51 2 1 c1t2d0s6 1 c1t3d0s6
metainit d52 2 1 c1t4d0s6 1 c1t5d0s6
metainit d53 -m d51
metattach d53 d52
metainit d54 -p d53 36G
metainit d55 -p d53 100G

One "problem" I came across was that there is no easy way to interrupt a
mirror resync
once it has started. Nicolas suggested a method whereby you hack the disk
label while
the resync is going on which causes the thing to error out, though I've not
tested this.

It's also not clear why the GUI doesn't work on this system. It's patched
up to latest
revs. It may simply be that the disk management tool was taking a very long
time to
start but with zero cpu and disk activity showing during the attempted
initialisation I
doubt it's that simple.

Cheers

Joe
