This was a quick one :

thx to Christopher Saul who mentioned the existence of "rdesktop"
(SourceForge freeware). Got it from "www.rdesktop.org", compiled without
special options, and it worked. Kicked out Citrix and their dumb support
contract.

Life can be beautiful, even for sysadmins.

Subject: problems with Citrix and SunRay servers

Hi,

altough this might be a rather pure MS-problem, I am in such desparate need
for assistance that I still post it on this wonderfull list because it is
still related to Sun users:

We have 2 SunRay servers that provide redundant desktops to users. From
these SunRay servers, they can also launch the Citrix client program to
connect to 2 Citrix MicroSoft servers to give them access to Outlook,
MS-Office tools, etc.

Regularly, like now, nobody can get a connection with this Citrix client
program to those Citrix servers anymore ("...dial-up or modem problems
prevent connection ...")

After struggling through the MS-jungle on these Citrix servers, it seems
that there is a licenting issue : licenses seem to be allocated to different
people who do not have any Citrix-session open anymore from any SunRay
server. The version of Citrix we run apparently can only grant licenses
based on the MAC-address of the client-host that makes the connection. Since
in our case all client-programs make their connection on behalf of different
users but using the same MAC-addr of the SunRay server, how can this
properly work ?

Has anybody experience with a correctly working combination SunRay (version
2 on Solaris-9) plus Citrix (version 1.2 on Windows-2000, Citrix client
seems to carry version 6.30.1061 on Solaris) ?

Desparately seeking for any good hint towards more detailed information
about this combination ?

TIA !

Rob
