Summary: How to patch Solaris 8 (GNOME preparation)

I must have a weird browser. Nobody seems to have seen the behaviour so far. It was recommeded to use and download the zips directly.
Thanks to all that gave this hint. This worked for me. I was able to
apply 2 of 4 patches on my list The other patches led to

bash-2.03# patchadd 114814-01

Checking installed patches...
One or more patch packages included in
114814-01 are not installed on this system.

Patchadd is terminating.

So they couldn't be applied although the installer claims they are
missing. How can I find out which other pacthes have to be applied
first for a given patch. This seems to become a cumbersome experience.

Can anybody provide me with a list of necessary steps to get GNOME 2.0
installed on a Solaris 8 02/02 installation (no patches applied yet)?
The question actually is exactly which patches need to be applied to
make the GNOME installer happy?

Thanks a lot!
