advice: is this is solaris 8 install thed random patch and get an

openssl packages that is compiled with /dev/radom support

have you check the manual page? since openssl can not generate enough

entropy you need to tell is to use some extra device to generate them

you could use /va/adm/messages as device

something like

openssl rand -rand /var/adm/messages:/var/adm/wtmpx: 1024 -out

openssl genrsa -des3 -out server.key 1024

btw: using a big file for -rand is better like httpd log file maybe?
