Hello,
Thanks to Jacob Lerner, the problem has been solved by his
suggestion as follows,
 
yakov.lerner> Reenter the 'map g ...' line. Don't type
yakov.lerner> ^ and [ where you want ESCa[. Press Ctrl-V and Ctrl-[
