Thanks to Will Enestvedt
Carl Gobbo
Aaron Facey
Simone Cristina Sperandio
They all made suggestions on coping /etc/lp/interfaces. I did not try this
method. I went with the script provided by HP.

Many Thanks.

I was able to find a script that is bundled with V.10.34
Below are the directions that came with it:

                             Transferqueue Instructions
                                   TRANSFER.UNX
                                     26/04/2002

Purpose of "transferqueue" script:

To transfer all JetAdmin created queues from one
workstation to another into JetDirect Printer Installer
while retaining the same set of configuration options
that were configured through the JetAdmin Utility.

It also converts Jetadmin created queues to JetDirect
Printer Installer in the same system.

NOTE: This script will ONLY transfer queues from
                     HP-UX 10.x/11.x to HP-UX 10.x/11.x
                     or
                     Solaris 2.x to Solaris 2.x

*** Do not transfer JetAdmin created queues from HP-UX to
Solaris or from Solaris to HP-UX. These queues will not
function properly and may become corrupted.

           1. This script transfers queues from one workstation to
another as noted above. The script will not update
the queues with new fixes available in the latest
              Jetadmin modelscripts.

           2. When transferring Jetadmin created queues to the
destination workstation, the destination must have
              JetDirect Printer Installer version installed.

	   3. In case of a failure see /opt/hpnpl/tmp/transferqueue.log
	      for more information.

Transferring JetAdmin created queues to JetDirect Printer
Installer in the same system
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Invoke transferqueue with "local" to convert local queues to
   JetDirect Printer Installer.

2. Select a queue or all to convert the queues to JetDirect Printer
   Installer.

3. Try printing from the converted queues

          Transferring JetAdmin created queues from
	     HP-UX 10.x/11.x to HP-UX 10.x/11.x
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Login to the workstation (Source) as 'root' user from which the
    queues are to be transferred.

2. Change directories to /etc/lp/interface and remove old queues by
executing "rm *.old" and remove the files which are not used as
    queues.

3. Invoke transferqueue with "backup" to tar all the queues
created by JetAdmin/JetDirect Printer Installer for Unix. The
tared file will be placed in /tmp/queues.tar.

4. Transfer the file '/tmp/queues.tar' to the '/tmp' directory of
destination workstation (to which the queues are to be
transferred) by executing the following commands.

    ftp <destination workstation name>
    enter 'root' as a user
    enter 'root' user password
    cd /tmp
    bin
    put /tmp/queues.tar
    bye

5. Login to the destination workstation as root user.

6. Install JetDirect Printer Installer (E.10.18 or later) if it is
    not already installed.

7. Make sure that queue names on the source workstation do not
conflict with the queuenames on the destination workstation.
If same queuenames exist on both workstations, then the one on
the destination workstation will be overwritten by the source
    workstation's queue.

8. If you are using a host table - check to see if the proper /etc/host
entries exists on the destination workstation for the queues you are
    transfering.

 9. If you are using bootp - make sure the /etc/bootptab entries are
    available on the destination workstation.

10. Execute the script '/opt/hpnpl/bin/transferqueue'. This will create
and install the queues on destination workstation with the same
name as in the source workstation with same set of options.

11. Set the default queue (if it is necessary) by executing
    'lpadmin -d<queue_name>.

Subject: HP JetDirect

I am configuring a series 100+ printers on 4 SunFire 480R servers. We are
doing this in a Solaris 8, rev 10/02, environment via the HP JetDirect Print
Installer.

I would to know what files besides /etc/printers.conf is modified and does
the
JetDirect software keep an internal listing of all printers. I would like to
be able to just configure one machine and copy the conf files over to the
others.

Thanks,
