Well, this turned out to be easier than I thought. Thank you all for
your help. I had the majority of the work done, I just forgot a step.
Thank you to:
Daryl Tate
Jim Blevins
Ric Anderson
Ray McCaffity
Vinnie German
Doug Otto
Al Saenz
Ed Crotty
Ronald Loftin
Yura Pismerov
Ken Robson
Ed Rolison

The Answer: (I was forgetting to plumb)

ifconfig hme0:1 plumb
ifconfig hme0:1 <ip> netmask <netmask> broadcast <broadcast or + if you
want it to guess>
ifconfig hme0:1 up

to make permanent, add 'name' for new IP address to /etc/hosts.
Put this name in /etc/hostname.hme0:1
Make sure there is an entry in /etc/netmasks for the subnet.

I also received this html, which I have not had a chance look at.=20

Thank you all again!

Subject: Virtual links

Good afternoon,
Can anyone tell me how to create a virtual interface for hme0? I need
to add a Netted IP to my Cisco Secure server.
