not, meaning someone made a mistake.
here's s.q.'s response:
The rootusr script extracts the netmask (if necessary) from netmasks and

the ip from hosts and configures the broadcast based on that using the

broadcast + syntax from ifconfig. If this isn't happening correctly,

then your netmask is set improperly in /etc/netmasks. It should be your

original network number in the first column (eg: 10.0.0.0) and the new

netmask in the second column (eg: 255.255.255.0).
