SUMMARY: Blank monitor

The consensus was that it was booted without the keyboard cable attached,
and the machine defaults to using ttya for communication.

I went and saw the machine today, and rebooted it with keyboard and monitor
attached, and it worked fine.

Other possible gotchas:
An XWindows session opened by root grabbing control of monitor and keyboard=
,
even if launched remotely (however, I have XWindows etc. disabled)
