SUMMARY: PCI Gig Ethernet to Cisco Switch

While I received many good examples of Sun Servers connecting with Cisco
and other switches, none were exactly verifying that a Cisco Cat 4000
connected with an E250 running Solaris 2.6. I did find a post on deja.com
in Oct. 1999 where someone couldn't connect using 2.6. Also, this issue is
not resolved because we never did take the time to test it on our systems
(with Solaris 7) and instead decided a 100MB/Ethernet connection would be
enough bandwidth. If we do ever test Solaris 7, I will post the results.

In many cases connecting to switches, I did find that both sides of the
connections had to be set full-duplex. Also, Solaris 7 has a patch
associated with GigEthernet card. That patch id is 106765-06.

Thanks for all your responses!

Origional Post:
Has anyone had any trouble getting a PCI Gigabit Ethernet card in an E250
to work with a Cisco 4000 switch? Some time ago, we tried to do this using
Solaris 2.6 and could not get it to work. Now, we would like to attempt it
again using Solaris 7. Recommended patches, drivers, etc greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
Jen Hamilton
