Thank you to the helpful many that swiftly responded, soo many to
acknowledge.

Based on the responses I gathered, a majority of you suggested that the
device names for a QFE card should be qfe1-4 and not hme1-4. Our
installation show the 4 ports as hme1-4, but we just could not plumb hme1
(have'nt tried hme2-4 yet). The weird thing is /etc/path_to_install shows
hme0 but not hme1-4, but sysdef and dmesg all show the 4 added ports.

Browsing Sunsolve, it appears that we could have an earlier version of the
QFE card (X1042A) which is hme ('happy meal') based for which 2.5.1 patches
may be required (am stilllooking). Later revisions X1049A are the qfe based
cards and support is already built in in Solaris 2.6 (4/98) and later. For
Solaris 2.5.1, one must install QFE Software 2.x which is on a CDROM that
came along with the card.

I guess what we now just have to ascertain what version QFE card we have.

Thanks all.

Nelson
