Thanks to Hans Schaechl, Mike Allmen, and Bernt Christandl for very timely
answers.

This turns out to be a minor bug (BugId 4194687) that is annoying, but does
not seem to effect the operation of the system. It can be gotten around by
creating the file /etc/defaultdomain, with a single line that is your domain
name. Appears to work just fine.

Original question follows.
>I have been trying to bring up a Sparc 10 with
>Solaris 2.7. I had problems with sendmail, and
>found answers in the summarys about how to
>qualify my host name and set proper
>permissions on the /etc/mail directories and
>such. However, I still get this error on boot up:

>rpcbindkeyserv failed to generate hostname
>when establishing roots key

>into and out of the system. Is this something to
>worry about?
