Thanks to many for pointing out the (should have been) obvious.
I forgot to plume the interface "ifconfig hme0:10 plumb".
Thanks to Scott, Terry, Scott, and Carl.
This is an rtfm I know, but I'm swamped right now and could use a hand.
I have a U2 running Solaris 8. I attempted to add a virtual interface with
the command I often use on Solaris 2.6:
"ifconfig hme0:10 10.10.10.10 up"
This returned an error "No such interface".
I added a /etc/hostname.hme:10 and rebooted. The new virtual interface
appeared. What was I doing wrong? I need to do this often and can't
reboot all my servers just for this little change.
