First I'd like to thank all who responded. There were many.

There were three different answers given.

1. Use the -pn option to Xvnc which allows Xvnc to run without making use of
the
   /tmp/.X11-unix socket.

2. Change the permissions on the Xcnv program to be setgid root
(The sames permissions that /usr/openwin/bin/Xsun executable has.)

3. Execute the chmod command in a one line shell script that gets executed
on bootup

Subject: How to permanently change permissions on /tmp/.X11-unix?

Administrators,

I am tyring to run Xvnc as a normal user. This program requires that
/var/tmp/.X11-unix be writable. As root
I can change the permissions on this directory and make it world writeable,
and then run this program as a normal user, but the permissions on this
directory are set back to 775 on each boot.

Is there a way to force the change permanently?

Thanks,

Jack
