SUMMARY: E450 ENVMON question

Early in July (sorry for the late summary, but I had to schedule this) I
posted the
enclosed on ENVMON read failures for ambient temperature. I had two
replies:
Sergey Datsenko [sid@undp.org]
Nicole Skyrca [nskyrca@appliedtheory.com]

Sergey had a similar problem, solved by a service call to replace the
motherboard
(after having replaced fans to correct a thermal shutdown problem without
success).

Nicole found a patch (more an upgrade I would say) for OBP 3.16.x (I was
3.14.x)
that referenced this problem as corrected. Patch kit 106122-06.tar.Z, had
a
description in the internal README reference to fit my problem:
4206681 System reports "EnvMon: I2C read failure for Ambient temperature
at: 9a"

I put the new OBP (and POST) in and we have been 3 days now without one of
these
messages. Thank you Nicole!

Thinking further about Sergey's situation, the new motherboard may have come
with the
'patched' OBP, thus solving his 'bad motherboard' problem?

Thanks to all!
