SUMMARY: /va/mail changes group to gid (instead of group mail )after reboot

Thanks to only reply from Arthur Darren Dunham so far.
Brought system to single user mode and changed permission and rebooted to
multiuser mode.
I was immediately able to receive my E-mails.

Check the permissions on the /var/mail directory on your box, the actual
directory in /var that lies underneath the mount point.

Reboot to single user and check before autofs starts.
