SUMMARY: Changing SCSI ID and boot -r

i receive a lot of responses... all suggested for me to do:
for disks,
/usr/sbin/drvconfig
/usr/sbin/devlinks
/usr/sbin/disks

for tapes,
/usr/sbin/drvconfig
/usr/sbin/devlinks
/usr/sbin/disks

Original Question:

I am making an application that would change the SCSI ID of a device...
The problem is that the SCSI device won't be recognize after a reboot.. unless
i do a "b -r" ...

may i know what's your suggestions with this?
