Well ,Thanks to those who responded ,I geuss posting something on the
holidays is a bit risky ......
My question
 Hi All,
> The place where i grew up as a uix admin used the followingdisk sliceing
> scheme,
> /dev/dsk/cot0d0s0 / 120 -150 mb
> /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6 /usr 400 -650mb
> /ev/dsk/c0t0d0s7 /home0 rest of disk
> Now that i am the admin here i was thinking more of
> /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 / 1000-1200mb
> /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1 /var 150-200mb
> and the rest home ...

the result
all who responded agreed on one thing the /var is too small !!! 300-600mb
was the ranges of size.
almost all said they like to keep / small and seperated so there's no file
activity on it and thus minimal posibility of damage.
almost all said /opt and /usr should be residing on other slices to usr
300-600 and the same or more for opt .
Adam Levin was the only one saying a single but big partition will save disk
space manuvers ...and allow for smooth upgrades.

if you have a comments please mail me i will resummerize !!! i think this
issue is important and deserves some thaught .so your opinion is welcomed
and will be taken into consideration.
thanks to all who responded
