Hello,
You have probably 400MHZ/8MB CPU's installed. For Solaris 2.5.1 & 2.6 you
need to do following this procedure to limit the ecache size to 4MB. Later
on after you installed the right patch you cab re-enable it.
Note that there are two sets of instructions below. The first set
describes the required software prerequisites for installing the
400MHz/8MB CPUs on an existing Enterprise 3X00-6X00 server that is
running Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6 or Solaris 7. The second set describes
the procedure for installing Solaris 2.5.1 or Solaris 2.6 on a new
system that is configured with 400MHz/8MB CPUs.
Instruction Set 1.
------------------
Installing the 400-MHz 8-Mbyte module into an existing E3x00-6x00
system running Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6 or Solaris 7:
1. check the firmware revision by typing /usr/sbin/prtconf -V at
the UNIX prompt. Upgrade to flash PROM version 3.2.21
(or compatible versions) if the PROM version displayed
indicates an earlier revision.
2. Through your browser, go to "http://sunsolve.sun.com"
if you do not have internet access, contact your
Sun service representative for instructions.
3. Select the following links in order:
a. Patches
b. Recommended and Security Patches
Select "Agree" at the bottom of the Software
License Agreement
4. Select the required Solaris operating environment
patches as follows (not required for Solaris 7):
a. Select your version of Solaris operating environment
version from the table titled, "Recommended and Security
Patches for Solaris".
b. Select the required patch for your version of the
Solaris operating environment using the following table.

5. For flash PROM updates:
Scroll to "Recommended and Security Patches for
Unbundled Products" and select the "Hardware" category,
then select patch #103346-xx (flash PROM update version
3.2.21 or compatible versions).
6. Halt the operating system, and then turn off the system
power.
7. Remove and replace the CPU modules (and clockboard, if
necessary).
8. Power on the system.
* Note: There is another patch which is not specific to the 400MHz/8MB
CPU, but is still required for Solaris 2.5.1: patch #104595-06

99% of the time this is a blown CPU.. call Sun Service to get them to come
out and replace it. We've had the same problem hear a couple of times,
and both times a CPU swap-out fixed it.

I think that's an issue with the Hardware version of the cdrom you're
booting off of. Try a cd with a newer hardware version like 11/98 or and
99 version.

We had the same probleb but on u10s with ide disk,we replased the disk and
installed the os ,dont know if it same in your case also.
