I got a couple of suggestions on this. I probably did not explain the
question very good as one of the suggestions was to use
sysidcfg file to specify netmask (this can be done) and the other was
/etc/netmask (this was there, did not do a thing)
The real solution was to modify
/export/install/Solaris_2.5.1.hw.11.97//export/exec/kvm/sparc.Solaris_2.5.1/
netmask , this
is a known problem and specified in Bug Reports article 1173305 .

Sorry I lost the original question, it asked where a jumpstart client gets
its netmask from?
